This Auburn University Accounting and Tax Training Institute will offer a one-day workshop for Certified Public Accountants in Accounting & Auditing in four Alabama sites in 2014. Several popular instructors will return to offer an update on these topics:

About the instructors:
- Stephen Grice, Sr., Ph.D., CPA
School of Accountancy
Dr. Stephen Grice is the Botts Professor of Accounting in Troy Universitys School of Accountancy. Prior to rejoining Troy University, he was a professor of accounting at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and served as the Director of the Master of Accounting Program. In 2011, Dr. Grice was the recipient of the UAB Presidents Award for Excellence in Teaching. In 2010 he was honored as the Beta Gamma Sigma Professor of Year and in 2008 he was the recipient of the Loudell Ellis Robertson Teaching Excellence Award, both at UAB.
In 2003, he was honored as the first recipient of Troy University worldwide system Wallace D. Malone, Jr. Distinguished Faculty Award. In 1998, he was honored as the Delta Sigma Pi Business Professor of the Year at Troy University. Dr. has also been named Faculty of the Semester by the Student Government Association on three occasions and was a finalist for the Troy University Ingalls Award for excellence in classroom teaching in 2002 and 1999. Dr. Grice has authored more than 40 articles for various journals including Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, Journal of Business Research, Advances in Accounting, The CPA Journal, Practical Tax Strategies, The National Accounting Journal, The Cooperative Accountant, The Journal of 21rst Century Accounting, Southern Business & Economic Journal, National Public Accountant, Ohio CPA Journal, Today's CPA, Business Questv, Tennessee CPA, and the TSU Business and Economic Review.
- Kevin Robinson, CIA, CFE, CCEP
Executive Director, Department of Internal Auditing
Kevin Robinson, CIA, CFE, CCEP, is the Executive Director of Internal Auditing at Auburn University and a Past President of the Association of College and University Auditors (ACUA).
Kevin has been with Auburn University for over 21 years and has served as the internal audit director since 2001. He is a past Spirit of Excellence award winner at AU. He is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) and trained facilitator for Kouzes and Posners The Leadership Challenge. He holds BS and Masters degrees in Accounting and has taught various accounting courses at both AUs College of Business and at the community college level.
Kevin is a frequent speaker on the topic of occupational fraud, fraud prevention, internal controls, leadership and risk assessment/management. He has also published articles in ACUAs College and University Auditor and has been quoted in The Business Officer magazine and various news articles.

Associate Professor, Department of Accounting
Richard A. Turpen, Ph.D., CPA, CFE, CISA, CITP, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting in the Auburn University Montgomery School of Business. Professor Turpen holds degrees from Birmingham-Southern College (B.S.) and the University of Alabama (M.A., Ph.D.) and began his career in public accounting, serving in audit management at the Nashville, Tennessee office of Touche Ross & Co. (now Deloitte & Touche LLP), prior to joining academe.
Turpen holds memberships in a number of professional organizations and has been an instructor for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is a contributing author for the AICPAs Uniform CPA Exam and a member of the ASCPA Ethics Committee and the audit committee of the Presbyterian Church (USA). His primary teaching and research interests include auditing, financial accounting, fraud examination, and professional ethics. A speaker and seminar leader for the professional community, Turpen has written or co-authored numerous articles appearing in both academic and practitioner-oriented publications.
