Anti-Bullying Summit


The 3rd Annual Anti-Bullying Summit "Be a Hero! Take a Stand!", will take place on July 10-12, 2013 at the Mobile Convention Center in Mobile, Alabama. Hosted by the Truman Pierce Institute (TPI) and the Office of Professional and Continuing Education (OPCE).

Mission
To facilitate action-oriented conversations via a premiere conference designed to share information, current thinking, and research about a serious problem facing our schools and communities—bullying. The conference is designed to create on-going local, state, and national coalitions for Pre K-12 educators, higher education faculty and administrators, student leaders, mental health practitioners, researchers, community leaders, policymakers, and other professionals who are engaged in on-going work to address Pre K-20 bullying and cyber-bullying in learning environments.


Objectives

  • To engage in cross-role and role-alike deliberations about best practices to address issues related to bullying and cyber-bullying
  • To form coalitions able to address the many issues related to bullying and cyber-bullying.
  • To promote on-going and new research efforts regarding pK-20 policy reform, curriculum development, intervention/prevention strategies, and potential legislation related to bullying and cyber-bullying.
  • To produce a white paper as a follow up to the summit documenting the outcomes from the summit for dissemination to a wider audience.

Lodging
The conference hotel for the 3rd Annual Anti-Bullying Summit is the Hampton Inn and Suites, Downtown Mobile. The room rate is $94.00 + tax per night, and includes a free hot breakfast. This special rate is available beginning July 9 and runs through July 12, 2013. When making your reservation, please use the group code: ABS.

There are three options for making reservations:

Follow these steps to enter the special Group Code: ABS on the hotel reservation website:

  • Select the nights you wish to stay (group rate can only be used July 9 – 12, 2013)
  • Below the date selection area, click the "Add Special Rate Codes" link to expand the code entry boxes
  • Enter ABS in the space for "Group Code"
  • Click the "Check Availability" button to be taken to a listing of available rooms
  • Select your room choice and complete reservation

Important note: The room block is available until June 1, 2013, however, it is expected that hotel rooms will be consumed quickly. Participants are encouraged to make reservations early in order to take advantage of the special rate of $94.00/night. Should it become necessary to expand the room block, Auburn University will make every attempt to do so, but the possibility of expansion will be contingent upon availability of additional rooms.
