Pine Management

The Center has 3 species of pine that are focal points in our management.  Much of the upland areas today are managed for longleaf, loblolly or slash.  Rotation length for longleaf is approximately 65 years, while loblolly and slash is 30 to 35 years. Stands may be naturally or artificially regenerated following harvest.  Average stand size is around 25 acres, stands are irregular in shape and age between adjoining stands is targeted between 5 to 10 years.
