Committee for Strategic Internationalization welcomes back the Wyly-Kellogg Group

AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn University Committee for Strategic Internationalization is currently undergoing an internationalization review process to assess the current state and needed activities, processes or policies in moving Auburn toward its vision and goals for internationalization. To contribute to this process, the Wyly-Kellogg group, who first visited Auburn in fall 2018, will be back on campus this Thursday, March 21 to lead a discussion about Auburn’s internationalization needs. The session will be from 3-4:45 p.m. in Student Center 2216, and all available Auburn faculty and staff are encouraged to attend.

The Committee for Strategic Internationalization and other representatives from various Auburn colleges and departments met with Wyly-Kellogg last fall to outline initial thoughts about internationalization efforts and needs. Then, throughout the first half of the spring 2019 semester, the three subcommittees—research, strategic partnerships and student experience—took stock of the institution’s international and global initiatives by collecting and analyzing existing data.

Following the Wyly-Kellogg group visit on March 21, the Committee for Strategic Internationalization will use their report and the university’s existing data to further engage the diverse collection of stakeholder groups across campus in a discussion of strategic internationalization. Specifically, during the month of April, the Office of International Programs will host a series of lectures for faculty to discuss the committee’s three areas of focus—research, strategic partnerships and student experience—as they apply to internationalizing curriculum, international partnership possibilities and understanding international rankings. For details on the lectures, please visit the Office of International Programs’ website.

The internationalization review process is expected to be completed at the end of the fall 2019 semester. Based on the findings from the internationalization review, the committee will then develop an outline for the final ACE Internationalization Laboratory report that will be reviewed by ACE Lab Advisor Robin Helms and later submitted to Auburn's administration.

The ACE Internationalization Laboratory reports, outlining the details of each committee meeting, can be found on the Office of International Programs’ website, along with more information on the internationalization initiative.
