Auburn University transitions to new international travel insurance provider and international emergency call center

AUBURN, Ala. – Are you planning to travel abroad as a representative of Auburn University? If so, then there are a few important travel insurance updates you need to be aware of. As of Aug. 15, 2019, all faculty, staff and students travelling to another country on official university commitments and/or study abroad programs will be enrolled in an updated AU International Travel Emergency Plan with Cultural Insurance Services International (CISI). This is a transition from the current insurance plan provider, United Healthcare Global, whose international emergency travel plan with Auburn will end on Aug. 14, 2019.

CISI is a customer-service focused company with user-friendly technology that will allow Auburn travelers to access essential insurance documentation and information before, during and after travelling abroad, making travel less stressful and more efficient. One of the most valued benefits of CISI is the free access to their CISI Traveler mobile app.

Every enrolled AU traveler will be emailed a welcome package from CISI, titled “MyCISI,” with instructions to download the CISI Traveler app. By downloading the app, travelers can access insurance documents including the insurance card, locate a provider, retrieve medical emergency information and file a claim on the go.

Due to the switch in provider, Auburn’s emergency call center for travelers while abroad is also changing as of Aug. 15 to AXA Assist, the CISI 24/7 emergency call center. The phone number and instructions will be provided on the CISI Traveler app.

Although the travel insurance provider is changing, the travel request system will remain the same. When travelling abroad, Auburn requires that all faculty, staff and students submit a RAT50 form at least 30 days prior to departure. This is the process by which travelers are enrolled with CISI. To access the RAT50 form, login to AU Access, click Self Service on the Employees tab, then select RAT50. That will lead users to an instruction page with a link at the bottom to the Banner RAT50 form. Note that students on programs abroad will continue to be enrolled in this insurance through their Auburn Abroad online application process and will not use the RAT50.
