ABOUT

Founded in 2024, the East Alabama STEM Ecosystem is a collection of like-minded partners preparing all learners to thrive through high-quality science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) experiences.  The Auburn University I-STEM Connectory serves as our anchor organization and provides support, guidance, and resources.  The East Alabama STEM Ecosystem is part of a global collection of STEM Learning Ecosystems.

Our mission is to cultivate an inclusive and dynamic STEM-learning network that fosters a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and community development.

Our vision is to create a resilient, STEM-ready workforce, while promoting lifelong learning and civic engagement.

What is a STEM Learning Ecosystem?

We are proud to be part of the Global STEM Ecosystems Initiative, a worldwide movement connecting education, business, government, and community organizations to create powerful STEM learning opportunities that prepare future-ready learners and strengthen workforce development in local communities.

(quoted from STEM Ecosystems https://stemecosystems.org/about/)

“Keeping the learner at the center, a STEM Learning Ecosystem establishes critical community partnerships to identify and fill local STEM learning and workforce development needs.

Partners include schools, afterschool and summer programs, colleges and universities, businesses, government, community-based organizations and more to connect learning pathways for young people, close opportunity gaps, stimulate economic growth, and address talent shortages.

Ecosystems are a grassroots approach to connecting the dots within a community and gathering partners to create new possibilities. Based on a shared interest, they develop a common language that benefits the end-users within the system.”
