Alabama Science and Engineering Fair
The Alabama Science and Engineering Fair (ASEF) will be held at Auburn University on April 13, 2024 and will host middle and high school fair winners from our 4 regional fairs held across the state. Students have the chance to compete for more than 150 awards totaling over $15,000.
ASEF is an affiliate fair of the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (Regeneron ISEF), the world’s largest international pre-college science competition. ISEF annually provides a forum for millions of students from over 50 countries, regions and territories to showcase independent research.
Three exceptional high school students in the Senior Division from ASEF will advance to the Regeneron ISEF from May 11-17, 2024 in Los Angeles, CA and will compete against the top 1500 students in the world for nearly $9 million in prizes and scholarships.
Additionally, the top 10% of Junior Division winners from grades 6-8 will advance and compete in the Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge.

ASEF will host a free 4-day professional development workshop (May 29-June 1, 2024) for high school SEF teachers through the ASRT Program (Advancing STEM Research Training) sponsored by Regeneron and Zeiss. Please email kyd0002@auburn.edu for registration information.
Congratulations to Rhea Rastogi from Loveless Academic Magnet Program High School! She was one of 40 U.S. high school seniors that was named as a finalist in the Regeneron Science Talent Search (STS). STS is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math research competition for high school seniors, and Rhea received a prize of $25,000!
We are happy to announce a partnership between ASEF and DataClassroom. The DataClassroom web-app is a tool for graphing, statistics, and data analysis in the grade 6-12+ science and math classroom. Science fair teachers around the country have found it especially useful as it directly supports students in choosing appropriate graphs and statistical tests for their science fair projects. This partnership is offering up to two free DataClassroom licenses at each school in the state of Alabama. Current DataClassroom customers are not eligible. Congratulations to Nikita Prabhakar! She was part of the Top 30 in the nation for the Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovator Challenge. As a finalist, she received a $500 cash award and competed for over $100,000 in prizes during a trip to Washington, DC from Oct 28-Nov 2, 2023. For more information, please click here.
Congratulations to Amelia Gollapalli, Ayoung Jeong, Nikita Prabhakar, and Minlu Wang-He. These students competed at ASEF 2023 and were selected as part of the 2023 Top 300 Competitors in the Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovator Challenge, the nation’s premier STEM competition for middle school students.
