Employees are the heartbeat of Auburn University. Employee Appreciation Week, scheduled for May 6-10, 2024, is dedicated to recognizing and honoring the contributions of our diverse workforce. This includes full-time, part-time, and temporary employees. 

Throughout the week, various events will be held to thank our employees while fostering a sense of community. It’s time to celebrate the hard work, innovation, and excellence exhibited each day by our employee family!

Departmental Appreciation Day

To kick off the week, departments and units are encouraged to recognize their employees with their own unique events. 

All events must adhere to Auburn University Spending Policies and Procedures.

* Some departments may schedule events later in the week. 

Employee Recognition Program
Tuesday, May 7, 2:30 p.m.
Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center at Auburn University

The following employees will be recognized:

  • Spirit of Excellence recipients (Employees of the Year will also be announced.)

  • Year of Service recipients

  • Recent graduates

  • Supervisor Pathways graduates

Employees who are being recognized will receive an invitation to the program. A light reception will be held at the conclusion of the event. Employees who wish to celebrate an honoree are also encouraged to attend. 

Walk @ Lunch
Wednesday, May 8, 11:45 a.m.*
Various locations 

Dozens of employees are expected to participate in one of the walks across campus. Walkers can meet at one of the following locations:

  • Harrison College of Pharmacy

  • Facilities Management - Building 1* (This event may be later in the day. Additional information will be forthcoming.)

  • East Glenn Administrative Complex

  • Forestry, Wildlife and Environment Building

Each walk will take approximately 30 minutes. ACES offices and other off-campus units are also encouraged to host their own events.

Ice Cream (Sponsored by Auburn Advancement)
Wednesday, May 8, 1-3 p.m., while supplies last
Alumni Center parking lot 

While supplies last, Auburn Advancement is offering ice cream from A Little Something Extra Ice Cream to employees.

Parking is limited so employees are encouraged to walk or take a golf cart to the event. Tables will be set up inside the Alumni Center if employees would like to enjoy their treats inside.

Yoga Class
Thursday, May 9, 9 a.m.
Mind/Body Studio (Recreation Center Fitness Tower) 

Campus Recreation will host a yoga class for employees. Space is limited to the first 30 participants. Mats and other props will be available for use. 

Hall of Fame Club Tours
Thursday, May 9, 2-4 p.m.
Plainsman Park

Auburn employees can walk through the new Hall of Fame Club at Plainsman Park.

A tribute to Auburn, Southeastern Conference and Major League Baseball great Frank Thomas, who is the first player from the SEC enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame, the Hall of Fame Club will add premium seats and standing room space at field level to go along with a 3,000-square foot climate-controlled club space featuring food, drinks, televisions, restrooms, and indoor seating.

Spring Fling at the Museum
Thursday, May 9, 5-7 p.m.
Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art
  • Food trucks from Franky Junes Weeny Wagon and Good Karma will be available for guest purchasing.

  • Free Kona Ice will be offered courtesy of the museum.

  • The event will be a picnic-style hangout with music. (Guests are encouraged to bring their own picnic blankets and chairs.) 

  • Chalk art will be one of the activities. (Chalk will be provided.)

  • Totes are available with a $10 donation. (One per household)

Departmental Showcase
Friday, May 10, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Alumni Center
  • Dozens of campus programs and organizations will have tables and share information about their valuable work. 

  • Some of the programs/organizations will have free items and candy. There will also be prize drawings throughout the day courtesy of several Tiger Perks participants.

  • Email Sonya Dixon at dixonsa@auburn.edu if you would like more information on the Showcase, including details on having a table.

Super Savings

There will be two special offers for AU employees (Employee ID required).

  • From May 7-10, Campus Recreation will offer free admission to full-time faculty and staff, along with their spouses and partners.

    • The center will not be open on May 6.

    • While the offer is for unlimited visits, access to the facilities is only allowed during operational hours.

    • Spouses and partners must live in the same household as the employee.

  • The AU Bookstore is offering faculty and staff 20% off regularly priced clothing and novelties for in-store purchases. No other discounts apply. The discount excludes textbooks, diploma frames, and technology products. The discount expires on May 10. 

Supply Drive for Safe Harbor

safe harbor logo with lighthouseThroughout the week, employees can donate new, full-sized, and unused toiletries for clients of Safe Harbor, Auburn's victim advocacy program.

Safe Harbor provides free and confidential support to students or employees who have experienced any form of sexual or intimate partner violence. Services include:

  • Crisis intervention and safety planning

  • Information about rights and reporting options

  • Medical accompaniment and advocacy

  • Academic assistance and accommodations requests

  • Title IX investigation support and accompaniment

  • Accompaniment to meetings with law enforcement

  • Referrals to campus and community resources

Safe Harbour is accepting the following new, unused toiletries:

  • Shampoo

  • Deodorant

  • Body wash

  • Lotion

  • Hand soap

  • Toothpaste

  • Toothbrushes

  • Tampons

  • Menstrual pads

Employees can also make monetary donations to Safe Harbor if they would prefer to do that instead.
