Tom Webb

Professor

Tom WebbDr. Webb’s research interests lie generally in the field of inorganic chemistry, especially in the area of metal-metal bonded systems.  Several studies from his group have involved identifying Mo2 complexes present in solution and studying the dynamics of interconversion between these species.  He also served a number of years as the departmental crystallographer, and has collaborated with many colleagues in a variety of projects.

His teaching interests include general chemistry and senior- and graduate-level inorganic chemistry courses; specialty topics include group theory and crystallography.  He designed the Honors freshman chemistry course and has taught the course since its inception in 1991.

He plans to retire at the end of Summer 2007.
