SCUL

STEM Coalition of United Learners (SCUL) is an organization designed to promote diversity within the STEM fields. While centering efforts on volunteering and outreach, STEM Coalition of United Learners serve as mentors to future professionals in Auburn and local communities. "SCUL allows Auburn students to get out into the community and share their love of science with youth in underrepresented areas," said member Abbrianna Robert. "Many of these young people have not even considered careers in STEM fields, so our goal is to show them, by using ourselves as examples, that they can do it as well!"

As such, SCUL represent a diverse group who emphasize the importance of the inclusion of people of different gender, background, ethnicity, and culture. We believe that there needs to be an emphasis on STEM education and our central goal is to support diversity within the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics to bring about true innovation.

"One of the most meaningful experiences has been participating in Eastside Elementary’s Science Night," Abbrianna continued. "This was an event that encouraged parents and their children to engage in activities rooted in STEM, and the kids had a lot of fun! It was really nice to spend the evening with them and talk to them about the opportunities they can have within STEM."
