Auburn University offers three courses in Ichthyology : General Ichthyology , Advanced Ichthyology , and Systematic Ichthyology . 

General Ichthyology - basic information about the fishes of the southeastern United States and the families of the world as well as information on life history, morphology, and physiology of all fishes. Offered fall semesters, contact Carol Johnston for more information. 

Advanced Ichthyology - a summer field course that exposes students to a wide range of fishes and involves several lengthy field trips. Class first offered Summer 2001, contact Carol Johnston for more information. 

Systematic Ichthyology - an introduction to the systematics (evolutionary history and taxonomy) of fishes; involves discussions of the literature and a class project on systematics (offered every other spring semester starting in 2001, contact Jon Armbruster for more information).
