For Auburn University retirees seeking employment through Temporary Employment Services (TES):

Retiring AU employees who wish to continue employment through possible TES assignments will be advised that there are limitations on the amount they can earn and the number of hours they can work without impact on their pension and health coverage benefits.  They will be referred to a Payroll and Employee Benefits Coordinator for guidance.

All University employees are subject to compliance with the Alabama Code of Ethics for Public Officials, Section 36‐25‐13 – Revolving Door. In accordance with the statute, any employee who departs from a position of authority from the University cannot return to work in a new/different position earlier than two years from the date of departure except in cases of a competitive search process through the University. However, any employee who wishes to return to his or her prior position, upon approval of the employing department/unit, may do so without being subject to the revolving door two‐year time restriction.

Generally, an individual who, within the context of the job from which he or she departed, had hiring and firing, purchasing, or contracting authority, etc., shall be considered to have been in a position of authority.  It is the responsibility of the individual to determine whether or not the revolving door provision of the Alabama Ethics law applies to them, and they should contact the Ethics Commission for guidance.
