Jon G. Waggoner

University Counsel and Interim Associate VP, Auxiliary Services

Jon Waggoner is the University Counsel and Interim Associate Vice President of Auxiliary Services, and since 2005 he is has also been an Adjunct Professor in the School of Accountancy at Auburn University. Prior to his return to Auburn in 2004, Mr. Waggoner's legal practice was based in the private sector working with corporate transactions representing financial institutions, emerging companies, and established corporations. At Auburn, he specializes in assisting the University where its activities intersect with the market, maximizing the University's financial power in designing, negotiating and drafting corporate transactions. Mr. Waggoner also assists the University in issues related to educational and foundation governance. While at Auburn, Mr. Waggoner has served as the Interim Vice President of Student Affairs and as the Interim Director of Dining.

Mr. Waggoner earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama, School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Auburn University. Mr. Waggoner served on the editorial board of the Alabama Law Review. He clerked for Chief Justice Perry Hooper of the Supreme Court of the State of Alabama. He was a member of the 2005-06 Alabama State Bar Leadership Class and has since served on its Leadership Council. He has been admitted as a member of the State Bar Associations of Alabama, Georgia, New York, and Florida.
