Application Process 


The application process involves two steps:

 1) A Letter of intent and recommendation forms sent to the Department of Biological Sciences. 

 2) An Auburn University Graduate School application

NOTE: The required documets are submitted to different offices.  While the Graduate School application allows you to create a username and password. If you experience any problems with the Graduate School on-line application, please contact the Graduate School by phone (334-844-2132) or email ( with your reference number. The Department of Biological Sciences can not assist you with the Auburn Graduate School on-line application.

"Applicants are also strongly encouraged (but not required) to ask their recommenders to complete the ETS Personal Potential Index (PPI) in addition to writing letters of recommendation. If you have registered to take the GRE, you can send up to four evaluation reports free as part of your test fee. Please enter your name exactly as it appears in your registration. To sign up for the PPI, create an ETS PPI applicant account."

Applications for Fall 2015 must be completed by July 3, 2015 (International Students must complete Applications by May 15, 2015).

Applications for Graduate Assistantships for Fall 2016 must be completed by Feb. 1, 2016.

Application Process:


Domestic Applications must be completed 45 days prior to the first day of the term you wish to enter.

International Applications must be completed 90 days prior to the first day of the term you wish to enter.

 Letter of Intent

 GRE Scores 
 - Minimuns are 153 verbal and 144 quantitative

 TOEFL/TSE Scores (international applicants only)
 - For GTA consideration, scores must be a minimum of 16 reading, 16 listening, 24 speaking and 16 writing.

 Transcripts (Official copy sent to the graduate school and unofficial copies to be sent to the department)

 Faculty Sponsorship 

2) Letters of Recommendation (at least 3)
sent (mailed or emailed PDF) to the department- Recommendation Form.

 Application Fee ($60 domestic, $70 international)

 Official transcripts and scores sent directly to Graduate School
