2025 Department of Mathematics and Statistics Faculty Awards recognize excellence at different stages of an academic career.

Jack B. Brown Endowed Faculty Award
Winner: Yuming (Paul) Zhang
This two-year award goes to a faculty member who shows a strong commitment to students and excellence in both teaching and research.
Robert K. Butz Award for Excellence in Teaching
Winner: Michael Brown
This annual award honors an assistant professor for outstanding undergraduate teaching in mathematics.
Marie Kraska Award for Excellence in Teaching
Winner: Jingyi (Ginny) Zheng
This award goes to an associate or full professor for excellence in teaching mathematics or statistics.

Dr. Melinda Lanius has received the 2025 MAA Southeastern Section Distinguished Teaching Award by a Beginning College Mathematics Faculty Member.
The award recognizes early-career college mathematics faculty for outstanding teaching and for making a positive impact beyond their own classroom.
