Kosolapoff Award Lecture - Laura Gagliardi, University of Chicago

Time: Mar 15, 2023 (08:00 PM)
Location: SCA

Details:

Dr. Laura Gagliardi from The University of Chicago will present this year's Kosolapoff Award Lecture, titled "Quantum Leaps: Chemistry and Creativity in a Changing World". The host is Dr. Evangelos Miliordos. A reception will be held beforehand.

Abstract:

Addressing the energy challenges that we face globally requires the coordinated efforts of scientists, engineers, and policy makers. Chemistry has the potential to drive quantum leaps in technology. With theory, computation, and machine intelligence we can accelerate the search for solutions to water scarcity, decarbonization, and clean energy. I will discuss the challenges and opportunities facing theoretical chemists, and how, as a community, we can make lasting, sustainable change in our world.

The Kosolapoff award is supported financially by Auburn University and the Auburn Local Section of the American Chemical Society and is awarded to scientists that have made significant contributions to their field.
