Title: Index theorems in analysis and mathematical physics.

Abstract: In this talk, we will discuss several recent results in spectral theory of Schrodinger operators. The main topic will be centered around a new relation between the Maslov index, a topological invariant counting signed intersections of paths of Lagrangian planes with a fixed reference plane, and the spectral flow, the net number of eigenvalues of a path of Schrodinger (and more general self-adjoint Fredholm) operators crossing zero in the positive direction.
