Special Guest Speaker: Dr. Larry Collins of Delta State University, "From local to global: An exploration of preservice teacher's perceptions of climate change"

Research shows that teacher's perceptions of scientific topics that have been deemed controversial (i.e. climate change) can influence the ways in which they approach their instruction. Using Values-Belief-Norm Theory, we explore the connection(s) between preservice teacher's values and their perceptions of climate change. The second half of this talk will explore how we utilized a globalization framework to support pre-service teachers in developing connections between examples of climate change at a local level to global.
