Title:  Disk configuration spaces and routing numbers of graphs

 

Abstract: Configuration spaces of disks in a region of the plane produce rich topological questions.  We'll focus on a discrete version of the problem of estimating the diameters of these configuration spaces.  This combinatorics problem was solved in joint work with undergraduate research students, but higher-dimensional extensions of the problem remain open.
