  • July 25, 2018 – Community Partner Training: Community Leadership for a Changing Economy. On Wednesday, July 25 from 1:00–2:30 P.M., AuburnServes hosted their summer community partner training entitled Community Leadership for a Changing Economy at the Auburn Chamber of Commerce. Presented by Dr. Joe Sumners, this session examined how communities deal with rapid change caused by economic forces beyond the community and the critical need for citizen engagement, collaborative leadership, and strategic planning amongst community leaders. Huge economic forces such as globalization and technological and demographic change are requiring communities to re-examine traditional methods and approaches for community and economic development. This onehour training session was for those involved in community efforts who would like to know more about how the current economic climate can affect their operations and how to deal with such matters with helpful tips and strategies.

  • February 8, 2018 – Community Partner Training: Social Media for Social Good: How Nonprofits Can Use Social Media to Accomplish Their Missions. The Office of Public Service is hosting a Community Partner Training entitled "Social Media for Social Good: How Nonprofits Can Use Social Media to Accomplish Their Missions" on Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. at the Auburn Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Emory Serviss from the Department of Marketing within the Harbert College of Business will provide helpful tips on how to develop social media strategies and campaigns that engage, create trust, and move stakeholders to action.   • February 7, 2018 – AU Leadership Series: Developing Your Personal Leadership Values and Philosophy with Danny Butler. The Office of Professional and Continuing Education is hosting the first installment of the 2018 AU Leadership Series on February 7, 2018 from 8 A.M. – 12 P.M. at the Auburn University Student Center, Ballroom B. The event features Danny Butler, Auburn University professor in the Thomas Walter Center. Butler works jointly in the Raymond J. Harbert College of Business and the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering in the Business Engineering Technology program where he helps commercialize technology. Butler has led student teams internationally and has developed and presented executive development programs for numerous global companies.
  • January 30, 2018 – AuburnServes Lunch & Learn. The Office of Public Service will host a AuburnServes Lunch and Learn on January 30, 11:45 A.M. – 12:45 P.M. in the AU Student Center Room 2310. Representatives from the Lee County Literacy Coalition, Kreher Preserve & Nature Center and Alabama Rural Ministries will give presentations on their agencies and provide information on opportunities for engagement.   • January 12, 2018 – Spring Volunteer Fair. The AuburnServes Spring Volunteer Fair will be Friday, January 12, 2018, 10 A.M. – 1 P.M. in the AU Student Center. Representatives from local non-profit agencies will be on hand to share information about their missions and volunteer opportunities. All Auburn students, faculty and staff are invited to attend.
  • December 7, 2017 – Community Partner Training: Developing Effective Partnerships. The Office of Public Service is hosting a Community Partner Training entitled "Developing Effective Partnerships" on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 1 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. at the Auburn Chamber of Commerce. Presented by Dr. Mark Wilson, Director of Civic Learning Initiatives, Auburn University College of Liberal Arts, this training session will focus on assisting non-profit agencies develop and maintain meaningful partnerships that help build capacity within the organizations.   • November 15, 2017 – The Dr. Juan Gilbert Distinguished Lecturer Series featuring Dr. Royrickers Cook. The Black Graduate and Professional Student Association presents the Dr. Juan Gilbert Distinguished Lecturer Series featuring Dr. Royrickers Cook. The event will be held on November 15, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. in the Haley Center, room 1403. Dr. Cook will be speaking on the topic of "Advancing at Auburn: Engaging in Outreach & Seizing Opportunities". Refreshments will be served.
  • November 30, 2017 – Last Day to bring donations for BraveHearts Holiday Toy Drive. Once again this year, University Outreach will be assisting the BraveHeart Center for Place and Purpose as a drop off location for its Holiday Toy Drive. The BraveHeart Holiday Toy Drive assures that children in economically needy families are included in the celebration of the Season of Giving. Please donate new, unwrapped toys for children ages newborn to 12 years old. Please deliver your donations by Thursday, November 30 to the Office of Public Service at O. D. Smith Hall during regular office hours. A box receptacle will be available in the 1st floor lobby for drop offs.
  • November 6, 2017 – Community Partner Training: Let's Talk. The Office of Public Service is hosting a Community Partner Training entitled "Let's Talk" on Monday, November 6, 2017 from 1 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. at the Auburn Chamber of Commerce. Designed to bring together leaders of our non-profit community to engage in an open conversation to help address concerns and issues you are dealing with. The information gained from this meeting will help to strengthen and define AuburnServes’ partnership with the community and assist the office in identifying new opportunities to connect. The 18th Annual Conference of the Engagement Scholarship Consortium (ESC) will be held on September 26-27, 2017 in Birmingham, AL. The conference is hosted by Auburn University in partnership with the ESC Southern Region.

  • July 27, 2017 – AU Leadership Series: Pete Blank. The Office of Professional and Continuing Education will host Pete Blank on July 27, 2017 as part of the AU Leadership Series. Stories and examples from The Walt Disney Company are sprinkled throughout the presentation as former Disney University leader Pete Blank leads this fun, engaging, and informational session. Upon completion, participants will have new skills and ideas that will help move them towards greater personal and professional success.
  • June 21-22, 2017 – Anti-Bullying Summit. The 7th Annual Anti-Bullying Summit, hosted by Auburn University Office of Professional & Continuing Education and Truman Pierce Institute, will be held June 21–22, 2017 at the Wyndham Hotel and Conference Center, Peachtree City, GA.
  • May 5, 2017 – Auburn Engagement with Cuba: A Roundtable Discussion. University Outreach is hosting a roundtable discussion on Auburn University’s Engagement with Cuba on Friday, May 5th, from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm at the Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center. The roundtable, which includes a continental breakfast and lunch, will highlight faculty interactions, past and upcoming activities and a discussion of future opportunities with the country. Those that have participated in a previous AU Delegation or lecture, are considering attending a future University Outreach Delegation, or those simply with an interest in Cuba, are invited to attend. Registration to attend is required. Space is limited, registration closes on April 28th
  • April 6, 2017 – Community Partner Training. We will be hosting a Community Partner Training on Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 1-2:30 P.M. at the Auburn Chamber of Commerce. The training will explore the basics of grant writing including identifying a need, finding funding, writing the proposal, creating a budget, submitting a proposal, and administering the project. Our speaker for the event is Juanita Winegar who serves as the Contracts and Grants Specialist III for the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. This event is free and open to the public.   • March 15, 2017 – Proposal Submission Deadline: 2017 ESC Conference. The deadline for proposal submissions for the 2017 ESC Conference is March 15, 2017.
  • March 9, 2017 – Community Partner Training. The Office of Public Service will be hosting a Partner Training on Thursday, March 9th from 1-2:30 P.M. at the Auburn Chamber of Commerce. The training will explore fundraising strategies for community partners. Our speaker for the event is Joyce Thomas-Vinson who serves as the Program Coordinator for Student Engagement and Service Learning for Auburn University Office of Public Service.   • March 1, 2017 – Nomination Submission Deadline: 2017 Award for Excellence in Faculty Outreach. The deadline for receipt of nominations for the Award for Excellence in Faculty Outreach was 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2017.
  • February 22, 2017 – Outreach & Engaged Scholars Recognition Luncheon. A luncheon was held on February 22, 2017 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the Alfa Pavilion (Red Barn) on Auburn University's campus. During the luncheon, the 2016-17 Competitive Outreach Scholarship Grant winners were recognized and commended for their accomplishments.
  • February 13, 2017 – Service Learning Colloquia. The Office of Public Service hosted a Service Learning Colloquia on Monday, February 13, 2017 in the AU Student Center, Room 2222. Brigitta R. Brunner Ph.D. provided an overview of her recently edited book, Creating Citizens: Liberal Arts and Community & Civic Engagement in the Landgrant Tradition.

This Lunch & Learn event is an opportunity for students to hear about the mission statement and volunteer opportunities from three local organizations.   • January 13, 2017 – Spring Volunteer Fair. The Office of Public Service will host the AuburnServes Spring Volunteer Fair, Friday, January 13, 2017. This event will take place on Auburn University's Main Campus in the Student Center lobby from 10am to 1pm. Our Spring Volunteer Fair has a special focus on the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service which takes place the following Monday (January 16th). This a great opportunity for students and faculty at Auburn University to learn about volunteer and service learning opportunities with more than twenty local and state-wide non-profit organizations.   • December 1, 2016 – CANCELLED – Community Partner Training. A federal judge issued a preliminary injunction, nationwide, preventing the Department of Labor from implementing and enforcing the new Final Overtime Rule that was set to become effective Dec 1, 2016. As a result, the material that was scheduled to be presented in the community partner training is not currently appropriate. Subsequently, the community partner training session scheduled for December 1, 2016, has been cancelled. We apologize for any convenience.

  • November 9, 2016 – AU Leadership Series "Influence Through Accountability" with Larry Little. The Office of Professional and Continuing Education is hosting Larry Little as part of their Leadership Series on November 9, 2016 at The Hotel at Auburn University.
  • October 26, 2016 – All In, All Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Event. In order to promote breast cancer awareness, the Vice President for University Outreach, in collaboration with The Office of Public Service and the Chi Chapter of Phi Delta Chi Fraternity, will host the 6th annual All In, All Pink event on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
  • October 29, 2016 – More Than Auburn's Virtual 5K. On October 29, 2016, More Than Auburn, a service group dedicated to raising awareness and funds for the work of global NGOs, will host a Virtual 5K to benefit the Liberia Cancer Research Initiative, a registered Liberian NGO. A virtual 5k is a race that can be run at any location. Your participation can be through a walk, treadmill, or a run outside, on your own, or with a group of friends.

The Office of Professional and Continuing Education at Auburn University and the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) in partnership with Trenholm State Community College (TSCC) are pleased to provide the Korea US Automotive Manufacturing Technology workshop. This workshop will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 from 1:30 through 6:30 p.m. at the Saugahatchee Country Club in Opelika, Alabama.

You are invited to submit nominations for the 2016 Auburn University Award for Excellence in Faculty Outreach, which is sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for University Outreach. The Office of the Vice President for University Outreach announces the 2015-16 Outreach Scholarship Symposium (OSS) which will be held in collaboration with the Tuskegee Auburn Women’s Leadership Alliance on February 15-17, 2016 at the AU Hotel and Dixon Conference Center.

  • January 28, 2016 – Celebration of Research and Creative Scholarship. The College of Liberal Arts will hold a Celebration of Research and Creative Scholarship at Pebble Hill on Thursday, January 28 from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. CLA faculty with publications in 2015 who are able to attend will be present to discuss their work in an informal atmosphere of conversation and exchange. The public is invited to attend the program, and we would be pleased to have you attend, allowing us to recognize your unit’s contributions to faculty scholarly achievement. Refreshments will be provided, and if you have not toured the recently renovated Scott-Yarbrough House, we invite you to arrive a few minutes early for a brief tour.
  • January 26, 2016 – Strategic Planning Workshop. The Office of Public Service is sponsoring a Strategic Planning Workshop at the Auburn Chamber of Commerce January 26, 2016 from 1:00-2:30 PM. This workshop, facilitated by Dr. William Sauser, a professor emeritus of management in the Harbert College of Business at Auburn University, will provide an introduction to the process of strategic planning and important tools to use in the process.

This event will take place on Auburn University's Main Campus in the Student Center lobby from 10am to 1pm.   • December 3, 2015 – Community Partner Training. The Office of Public Service is hosting a Community Partner Training on December 3, 2015 from 1:00 to 2:30 PM at the Auburn Chamber of Commerce. The training is entitled "Marketing Strategy Workshop" and will cover topics in mission statements, target markets, product/service positioning, and marketing methods. Space is limited!

  • Auburn scholars will be presenting at the Fulbright “Creating Pathways to Peace – Global Health and Education" Conference on November 12-14, in Atlanta, GA.
  • October 30, 2015 – COSG Proposal Submission Deadline. The final proposal submission deadline for the Competitive Outreach Scholarship Grants is Friday, October 30, 2015 by 4:45 p.m. Proposals submitted by this deadline will not undergo a format check and will not have the opportunity for revision or resubmission.
  • October 29, 2015 – Lecture: After Mandela The College of Liberal Arts and Auburn University Libraries is co-sponsoring a lecture on Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. in the Caroline Marshall Draughon Auditorium on the ground floor of the RBD Library. The lecture entitled 'After Mandela: South African Education in the Context of Politics, Business, and Race', will be presented by Dr. Stacey Nickson, Director of K-12 Outreach and Fulbright Specialist.
  • Assistant Vice President for University Outreach Royrickers Cook has announced the formation of the Government & Economic Development Institute. Longtime outreach director Joe Sumners will serve as executive director for the institute.
  • October 19-23, 2015Educational & Cultural Tours in Cuba. Auburn University Outreach is leading a series of special educational and cultural tour of Cuba for civic, business, healthcare and educational leaders through 2015 and beyond. These tours, which were developed in response to the recent U.S.-Cuba discussions on reestablishment of diplomatic ties between the two nations, are being coordinated by Outreach's Center for Governmental Services. Space is limited to 20 delegates. Join our next delegation that will be October 19-23, 2015.
  • October 21, 2015 – All In, All Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Event. The Office of the Vice President for University Outreach, in collaboration with The Office of Public Service and Kappa Chi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, will be hosting the 5th Annual All In, All Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Event on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM on the AU Student Center Green Space. We are currently accepting stories of survival and ways breast cancer has impacted you and your family/friends.
  • October 23, 2015 – COSG Early Proposal Submission Deadline. All Competitive Outreach Scholarship Grant proposals (received by Friday, October 23rd by 4:45 p.m.) will undergo a format check (an initial screening for minimum requirements). During this period, authors will only be contacted if there are questions concerning the proposal format, a need for revision, and resubmission. If authors are contacted, a proposal may be returned for revision and resubmission no later than Friday, October 30th by 4:45 p.m.

  • October 14-16, 2015Blue Ridge Conference on Leadership. The 95-year tradition continues. A group of prominent business people representing notable corporations in the Southeast has joined forces with Auburn University College of Business and Engineering Outreach to provide an exceptional Management Leadership Development experience for private and public sector principals, employees and representatives. The conference will be held on October 14-16, 2015 at the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly, Black Mountain, NC. The program promises to be challenging, motivational and inspirational.
  • September 28, 2015Grant Writing Workshop. Is your organization in need of funds? Would you like to apply for a grant, but need help getting started. If your organization is like most nonprofit organizations, then this training is just for you. In this grant writing worship Mike Easterwood, outreach associate, Economic and Community Development Institute, will cover the steps of grant writing from finding to funding including discussing available funding sources (private and government) and providing information about what to do after a decision is made about a grant application.   • June 8-26, 2015 – Free Pre-Calculus Summer Day Camp. Registration is now open for a free three-week Pre-Calculus summer day camp for high school students. The camp will meet on the Auburn University campus in room 3345 Haley Center, Monday through Friday June 8-26 from 8 a.m. to Noon. The camp is sponsored by the university’s K-12 Outreach office and the Honors College, and funded through a SENCER subaward from the National Science Foundation. The three week camp will offer students hands-on activities in high tech Smart classrooms for data collection, mathematical analysis, and constructing and solving mathematical models from real-world applications.

  • June 9, 2015Community Partner Training. The Office of Public Service is hosting a Community Partner Training Session on Tuesday, June 9, from 1:00 to 2:30 P.M., at the Auburn Chamber of Commerce. Courtney Carson, Associate Executive Director of Magic Moments, will be speaking on the topic of Campaign and Event Promotion. Magic Moments is the only wish granting organization devoted exclusively to creating magic moments in the lives of children in Alabama with chronically life threatening medical conditions. A magic moment allows children and their families to forget, even if just for a little while, the fear and pain of their illness.

  • December 14-18, 2014 – House United: Habitat for Humanity Building Project. House United is a joint project between the Auburn University Office of Public Service, Habitat for Humanity and the University of Alabama Community Service Center. A team of volunteers from each university will work together on a building project December 14-18, 2014 in Tuscaloosa County. The cost for the project is $100.00 per person which covers transportation, housing, t-shirts and most meals. Applications and payment are due by November 21, 2014.

  • Center for Governmental Services to host the Alabama County Government Institute – The Center for Governmental Services, a division of University Outreach, will hold the 44th annual Alabama County Government Institute June 26 and 27, at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center. This year's theme is "Strategies for Creating Lasting County Wealth" and will provide information on fiscal solutions and answers for local governments through innovations such as job and economic growth and streamlining government processes. Secretary of Commerce Greg Canfield will provide the keynote address on "Economic Opportunities for Local Governments." Other speakers include Mike Belarmino, National Association of County Commissions, and John Cooper, director of the Alabama Department of Transportation. Anyone interested in public fiscal matters and in issues associated with generating revenue for local governments may register to attend this conference.

  • Raise the Dough Challenge – From February 21-28, the Campus Kitchen at Auburn University is competing against Campus Kitchens at other institutions across the country in the Raise the Dough Challenge. The school that raises the most money will receive $1,000 to go toward their local efforts.
