Nanette Chadwick chosen as Director of Auburn Sustainability Program

Provost Mary Ellen Mazey recently named Dr. Nanette Chadwick as Director of Academic Sustainability Programs effective spring semester 2011. Chadwick will work with faculty from a diverse range of departments on campus in overseeing sustainability academic programs, including the sustainability minor. She also will pursue grant support for expanding the existing sustainability programming and will partner with the newly created position of Director of Campus Sustainability Operations.

"I look forward to working with all of the academic units on campus to integrate sustainability more fully into our teaching and research activities”, said Chadwick. “As our university prepares for the future, the concepts and practice of sustainability will become increasingly important, especially as we train the next generation to meet the challenges of a changing and internationally connected world."

In 2008, Auburn recognized sustainability as one of its core values by promoting what had been its Sustainability Initiative to the designation of the Office of Sustainability and also introduced the interdisciplinary minor in sustainability.

Dr. Chadwick joined the Department of Biological Sciences’ faculty in 2004, and is currently an associate professor.
