The Arboretum is once again holding its annual photo contest. All amateur photographers are encouraged to enter. Selected photos will be used in the 2013 Arboretum calendar. All photographs entered into the contest will be displayed in Biggin Hall for one week. Winners will be announced on April 19, 2012, on the Arboretum website, as well as on the individual photographs in Biggin Hall.
The winner in the Arboretum category will receive a cash award while winners of all other categories will receive gift certificates to Camera Graphics.
Entry Rules
- There will be five categories:
- Davis Arboretum - anything in the Davis Arboretum
- Birds and Mammals
- Other Wildlife - may include butterflies, insects, fungi, lichens, reptiles or amphibians
- Flora - Flowers, foliage, fruit, other parts of plants or trees
- Landscape
- The contest is open to any amateur photographer. An amateur is defined as someone who does not earn most of his/her living from photography.
- Each individual may enter up to three photographs.
- The photographs should be 8" x 10" and matted or mounted on an 11" x 14" mat board with the photo title, category and photographer's email on the back.
- Photo's must be taken in Alabama
- A CD containing the images must be submitted with the matted entries if you would like your photograph used in some format by the Arboretum. One CD may contain all three entries.
- The online data sheet should be printed, filled out and submitted with the photographs. You can download the data sheet HERE.
- There should be no man made objects visible in the photographs (e.g., fence posts, walls or benches). An exception to this rule will be made in the Arboretum category.
Dates and Locations
Entries must be received by 5 p.m. on April 12, 2012. They can be hand delivered to the Arboretum Pavilion or mailed.

The Arboretum and Camera Graphics will receive entries on April 10, 11 and 12.
We reserve the right to exclude any entry from the show.
