Kit Information:

mathpic3.jpgMath Kit Logistics:

Upon completion of math training, the teacher will receive the appropriate Year and Grade specific math kits. These kits will be picked up from the AMSTI-AU site by school administrators in August and delivered to your classroom by school personnel with help from the Lead Math Teacher.

When you receive the math kits, please use the packing slip to inventory the supplies in your kit. You have one week to report any damaged or missing items. Please use the material work order form to report any needs. Fax the form to Joel Hill, AMSTI-AU Materials Manager, at 334-737-5013, and your items will be delivered to you in a timely manner.

Math kits remain in the teacher's classroom to use for as long as he or she is employed by an AMSTI-AU school and is still teaching the grade he or she was trained on. Math kits remain the property of AMSTI-AU even though they are stored in the classroom for use for a long period of time. You are encouraged to label the AMSTI materials so they can be identified easily at inventory time or kit return time. Math kits will not be returned to AMSTI-AU unless the teacher changes schools or grades. Please notify the Math Specialist so arrangements can be made for returning your kit.

A math specialist will conduct inventory and refurbishment procedures at the end of each academic year. Possible refurbishment needs might include: batteries for calculators, straws, markers, graph paper, lost student guides, etc. You can request more items from your kit that you will need for the upcoming year. A math specialist will handle all necessary paperwork and your requested items will be delivered to you in early August.

If any items need refurbishing before the end of the academic year, please use the material work order form. Fill out the form completely and fax to Joel Hill, AMSTI-AU Materials Manager, at 334-737-5013. Your items will be delivered to you in a timely manner.

crabs.jpgScience Kit Logistics:

Please adhere to the following guidelines regarding science kits.

  • Inventory the kit upon delivery.
  • Report any missing items to AMSTI-AU on the materials work order form. This includes letting us know if you don't receive a kit when others at your school do, and you think that you should have received a kit too.
  • If your module includes coupons for living materials, please mail or fax the coupons as soon as possible. Notify your office personnel of the impending shipment and prepare for the living material's arrival by constructing the proper habitats. Keep in mind that AMSTI-AU does not handle living materials, and that you are ordering directly from the supplier.
  • When finished using a kit, take the time to pack the kit back in the containers as it was delivered.
    • Pack ALL non-consumable items (Example: student books, plastic bowls and containers, video tapes, etc.). I know this is hard to believe, but video tapes that come with kits cost up to $60.00 to replace.
    • Pack the remainder of ALL consumable items that were not used (Example: construction paper, glue, string, etc.). We re-count the left-over items and can make another kit using a few kits' left-over items.
    • If a kit has more than one container, pack the items back in the appropriate containers (Example: if plastic bowls came in Box A, return the plastic bowls in Box A). We only have 5-7 working days to count every item in every box. The average time to refurbish one box is 1.5 hours. It helps us greatly to find items in the appropriate boxes.
  • Inventory the kit before the first date in the pick-up window and return your kit to your school's pick-up location.

Thank you for understanding the importance of returning the items. If we had to replace all the student books, plastic bins, etc. each quarter, we would not be able to deliver materials to teachers in a consistent, ready to use condition.
