Kosolapoff Award

The G. M. Kosolapoff Lecture series is sponsored by the Auburn section of the American Chemical Society and the Auburn University Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. The award is named after Gennady Michael Kosolapoff who came to Alabama Polytechnic Institute in 1948. (Alabama Polytechnic Institute was re-named Auburn University in 1960.) The award is presented to outstanding chemists and biochemists in recognition of their outstanding scientific contributions.

The 2009 G.M. Kosolapoff Award and Lecture will be presented by the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry on Monday, April 27, at 4:00 p.m. in the Chemistry Building Room 134. The recipient is Koji Nakanishi of Columbia University who will present "Bioorganic Studies on Vision". An additional lecture will be given at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, in Science Center Auditorium and is titled "Science Research in US/Japan: Physiologically Active Compounds from Nature".
