OIP Seeks Storytellers Among International Students, Faculty, Staff and Scholars

Everyone has a story to tell. That's why the Office of International Programs is partnering with the Mosaic Theatre Company to develop an exciting storytelling event to share the experiences of Auburn's international students, faculty, staff and scholars.

OIP and Mosaic are seeking international student, faculty, staff and scholar volunteers who would like to share a story from their lives with the rest of the Auburn community. The event will focus on shared experiences across cultures, highlighting the fact that while cultures and traditions may differ the human experience is universal. Those selected will receive coaching on how to write and revise their stories as well as how to present that story to an audience. Volunteers must be available for coaching and rehearsal sessions during the spring semester (some of which will take place on weekends) and be willing to tell their final story at the storytelling event on the evening of March 22. No previous acting or storytelling experience is necessary.

Those interested in volunteering to take part in the storytelling event should send an e-mail by Dec. 1 to Jenn Mason, director of international initiatives, at jlm0061@auburn.edu with the following:

  • Name
  • Auburn affiliation (student, faculty, staff, scholar)
  • Home country
  • One paragraph describing the story you'd like to share during the event. Try to focus on a pivotal or defining moment in your life.
