Geosciences Day

Time: Feb 19, 2024 (12:30 PM)

Details:

On February 19th, we at the Auburn University Department of Geosciences are hosting the second annual action-packed Geoscience Day. We invite any interested rising 10th through 12th graders to spend the day with us on Auburn’s historic campus to learn more about the opportunities that our department has to offer. Attendees will be immersed in geosciences by examining fossils, looking through microscopes, playing with drones, and simulating artificial reality. Additionally, attendees will get the firsthand scoop on our department and degree programs via one-on-one and panel discussions with professors, current students, and alumni.

Our department is a close-knit academic community, and we offer undergraduate degrees in Geology, Geography, and Earth System Science. Student-centered learning is at the heart of courses, and we strive to provide students with immersive laboratory, field, and research experiences during their time with us. Our graduates go on to pursue successful career opportunities in the blooming Geosciences field, working in industries including environmental consulting, oil and gas, mining, policy, geospatial analysis, and more.

And at the end of this action-packed day, attendees will take home a t-shirt and their very own sample of Alabama’s state gem - blue quartz! We look forward to meeting your students!
