What do I need to do to get a minor in mathematics?

The new requirements for a minor in mathematics are

• fifteen(15) hours of courses labeled MATH or STAT at the level of 3000 or higher,
  with at least three courses labeled MATH, and
• a minimum grade of C in each of these courses.

Be sure to read the University requirements for a minor in the Academic Bulletin. In particular, note that courses required for your major or the core curriculum cannot count toward the minor.

You need to fill out a form listing the courses that you have taken towards your minor and obtain some signatures. This form is then forwarded to the Registrar's Office (by the Department) which will make a note in your transcript that you have fulfilled the requirements of a mathematics minor.

What are the requirements for a minor in statistics?

The new requirements for a minor in statistics are

• fifteen (15) hours of courses from the following

              Required: STAT 3600/3610 or STAT 3010/4020
              Electives: STAT 4610, 4620, 4630, 5110, 5630      AND

• a minimum grade of C in each of these courses. (Since some of the courses have not been approved yet, you may need to use some substitutions. Contact Dr. Mark Carpenter for details.)

How do I change my major?

Contact Regina McGinty (844-4269 or mcginrw@auburn.edu ). Ms. McGinty, the Executive Secretary in Student Services of the College of Sciences and Mathematics, will be able to direct you to a knowledgeable advisor. If you are not a student of the College of Sciences and Mathematics (COSAM), you will need to obtain your academic folder and take it to Ms. McGinty. Her office is on the second floor of the Sciences Center Classrooms Building.
