The AU-CMB program will fund between 4 to 6 doctoral graduate assistantships for the 2013 - 2014 academic year. These positions can be available for students to begin Fall Semester 2013. The assistantships carry a stipend of $22,500 for the first year and a University Peak of Excellence graduate research fellowship to cover tuition. The intent of the CMB graduate assistantship is to recruit outstanding students to begin doctoral study in this university program. Deadline for receipt of applications is February 1st.
This program of study toward the Ph.D. degree is complimented by required laboratory rotations in which students spend time learning advanced laboratory skills and identifying research opportunities in disciplines of specific interest to them. Our goal is to develop a program of graduate study and research experience for each student that is tailored to his or her career goals and complementary to our research directions
Application Process If you are interested in applying for an assistantship, you will need to:
- Complete the online application, at bottom of page and submit. - Complete the Graduate School Application. Please list AU-CMB program as the field or department of major interest in proposed graduate work. This will ensure that all necessary paperwork comes to the CMB Student Affairs Committee for evaluation. - Send the AU-CMB office your letter of intent, along with CV/Resume - Have 3 letters of recommendation sent to the AU-CMB office - Send the Graduate School your official transcripts and GRE and (if international applicant) TOEFL Scores

Please select the CMB Program Areas you are interested in, and rank them in the order of interest. We suggest that you familiarize yourself with the research areas (click on Home in the drop down menu at the top of the page). Also, please indicate a specific research area off interests, such as virology, gene discovery, plant molecular biology, gene therapy etc.
The three areas to choose from are: *Functional Genomics, Proteomics and Bioengineering *Signal Transduction and Development *Cell and Molecular Biology of Disease
Please furnish your GRE scores, keeping in mind that the subject test is not required for admission. Also, please remember that the maximum score that can be obtained in the verbal and quantitative section of the test is 800, and that in the analytical writing section is 6. All scores need to be filled in an numeric values, and not as letters (such as A,B, C and so on).
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required for all international students whose first language is not English.
