Karla Simmons

Dr. Karla Simmons is an assistant professor at Auburn University teaching apparel design and production management in the Department of Consumer Affairs and is a 2-time breast cancer survivor.

Dr. Simmons is very active in her department, college and university committees/activities as well as professional organizations. Dr. Simmons is considered an expert in the field of 3D body scanning technology where her research has been presented internationally in England, Korea, Egypt, Australia, and Hong Kong. Just recently, she was honored with the Student Government Association (SGA) Outstanding Faculty Award and the Women's Philanthropy Board Faculty Award, both for the College of Human Sciences.

In the community, Dr. Simmons is very active with the American Cancer Society where she has helped to raise over $75,000 over the last 3 years through Relay for Life and other ACS events. She is also a Reach to Recovery volunteer and the area trainer for the program. On campus, she started a breast cancer support group called "Connections" that meets monthly and volunteers to work with all breast cancer related events on campus.
