Floating dust, super-heated particles and magnetic fields are just a few of the exciting elements associated with plasmas. But what do you really know about the fourth state of matter?

Hear directly from Edward Thomas, Jr., dean of the College of Sciences and Mathematics (COSAM) and learn all about the plasma universe. On Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 6:15 p.m., you can hear from an Auburn alumnus who earned his doctoral degree from the Department of Physics talk about his fascinating role leading a unique plasma science laboratory on the Auburn University campus.

“Plasmas are everywhere,” said Thomas. “From the furthest reaches of space to laboratories here on earth, plasmas are involved in everything from microelectronics manufacturing to the birth of new solar systems. Come and join us for a fun talk about the most common form of matter in the visible universe!”

The event takes place at the Auburn Oil Co. Booksellers at 149 East Magnolia Avenue, Suite A in Auburn.

This Science Café program is sponsored by the Office of STEM Outreach and OIED in COSAM.
