Message from Dean Giordano – September 2019

Our college has been developing a new strategic plan that aligns with the university’s six pivotal goals in its 2019-2024 strategic plan: elevating the student experience, transformative research, impactful service, exceptional and engaged faculty and staff, strategic enrollment, and operational excellence. I added a seventh goal to our plan, communication, to ensure we effectively tell the COSAM story to our stakeholders.

Representatives from our five departments and administration, including both faculty and staff at all levels, shared their ideas and feedback through workshops and planning sessions.

These collaborative meetings have provided input where COSAM can reflect on our current performance and find new ways to offer more student-centric options such as new majors, minors, and certifications.  New majors including genetics or a new certification in GIS will help our graduates be more prepared for successful careers and have a competitive advantage in today’s workforce.

Additionally, benchmarking data was collected and analyzed to help COSAM compare its positioning and services to other peer institutions.

Over the next few months, our college will be finalizing its strategic plan including targeted objectives, metrics, and timeframe.

I look forward to sharing more information about how our strategic plan will help us reach our goals through actionable steps, and support the mission and vision of Auburn University.
