Ready to Graduate?


  • Where is the venue?
  • The Auburn University Graduation/Commencement Ceremonies are held in the Auburn Arena located on Heisman Drive. (Auburn Arena, 250 Beard-Eaves Court, Auburn, AL)
  • Are tickets required to attend the ceremony?
  • No – Seating is available on a first-come, first served basis.
  • Is there a limit on the number of guests that a graduate may bring?
  • No – Auburn University does not limit the number of guests that graduates can invite.
  • How long does the commencement ceremony last?
  • The ceremonies typically last between 1 ½ - 2 hours.
  • When do the doors open to the Auburn Arena on graduation day?
  • Doors open two hours prior to the start of the ceremony.
  • Unfortunately, we do not allow guests to reserve seats. If access problems necessitate saving a few seats, please limit them to no more than four seats in one row.
  • Where can I park?

  • Are there any special accommodations at the ceremony for individuals needing assistance?

  • What if I or my family member needs first aid during the ceremony?
  • EMTS and the Auburn Fire Division will have personnel in the Auburn Arena to assist with any medical emergencies. The First Aid Station is located on the west side of the main concourse area.
  • Is there a rehearsal for the ceremony?
  • No – Students should arrive to the ceremony at least 45 minutes before the start of the ceremony. Please visit Day of Ceremony Tips for additional information.
  • What should I wear with my black robe?

  • Do you take a picture when my graduate walks across the stage?
  • Commencement photos are taken by Auburn University’s Photographic Services and will be available online. Please visit Photo & Video Services for additional information.
  • Some of my family members cannot attend the ceremonies. Is there a way they can still watch it live?
  • Students with family members who cannot attend commencement exercises can direct them to live streaming video of the ceremony. The broadcast requires the free RealPlayer software. The video stream will begin at approximately 15 minutes prior to the ceremony.
  • Where can an RV or bus park?
  • All buses or RVs must park in the West Village Parking Lot located on the west side of campus. Buses and RVs are allowed to drop off passengers at the bus turn-in on War Eagle Way prior to parking in the West Village Parking Lot. Buses and RVs may not park in the Auburn Arena Parking Lot or the Beard-Eaves-Memorial Parking Lot.
  • When will I receive my diploma?
  • You will receive your diploma about 6 – 8 weeks after graduation. Please visit Diploma Shipping for additional information.
    NOTE: If you graduate in Fall Term, you will receive your diploma about 8 – 10 weeks after graduation due to the holiday schedule.
  • What is the size of the diploma?
  • Diplomas are 17” (wide) by 13” (high).
  • Is a minor printed on the diploma?
  • No. Minors are printed on the transcript only.
  • Diploma Questions about Double Majors or Concurrent Degrees
  • Double Major – one diploma with two majors indicated

    However, if the secondary major is in a different college/school than the primary major or is in the same college/school as the primary major but has different degree titles, then only the primary major information will be reflected on the diploma.

    Note: The transcript will reflect both majors.

    Concurrent Degrees – two diplomas (one for each degree)
  • I walked on Sunday or Monday during the Spring graduation ceremonies; however, my diploma shows Saturday’s date. Is this a mistake?

  • How can I obtain a Replacement Diploma?

  • Honor Information:
  • The university issues a gold honor cord to any undergraduate student who is potentially eligible for Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude or Summa Cum Laude. Being issued an honor cord does not represent a final certification of graduation honors on the student’s diploma or transcript. Official honor certification is finalized after the commencement ceremonies once the degree audit is complete.
