JarsContemporary Christian. Sometimes called CCM, artists such as Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Rich Mullins, Jaci Velasquez, and Steven Curtis Chapman provide a mixture of pop and rock for Christian audiences.

Christian artist collections provide a good way for listeners to identify those singers they wish to explore further. For example, WOW the 90s: 30 Top Christian Songs of the Decade provides a range of traditional vocalists to rock-inspired bands.

Christian Alternative Rock. Dance music, heavy metal, rap, and punk are all styles not normally associated with Christian music. However a growing number of young people are embracing artists who blend hot sounds with Christian themes. Artists include Jars of Clay, DC Talk, Starflyer, Third Day, and Moby.

JarsGospel. From choir music to jubilee singing, gospel's uplifting spirit is a part of the Christian tradition. Many mainstream artists started or have moved into gospel from other areas. For example, Aretha Franklin re releasedAmazing Grace. MXPX are a contemporary gospel group, while the Dixie Hummingbirds are a traditional gospel group.
