Auburn’s Alabama Gamma chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta, a national pre-health honor society, was founded in 1932 and is the primary source of information about the health professions and pre-health programs on campus. Each spring the chapter holds an initiation ceremony and reception for new members.

Dr. John Tole, pre-med/microbiology ’98, a physician at East Alabama Allergy and Asthma, is one of many local doctors who mentor Auburn students and talk candidly about the benefits and challenges associated with their careers.

Jessica Williams, biomedical sciences ’10, attended Emory University School of Medicine, graduated at the top of her class with a medical degree and a master of public health degree, and is currently conducting an internal medicine residency at Harvard University’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She credits her time at Auburn for providing a solid foundation upon which to build.

Dr. Brandon Johnson, medical director of oncology for East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, received a bachelor of science in molecular biology and a master’s in microbiology, both from Auburn. He said he trained with people who attended Harvard, Yale and Princeton for their undergraduate education, and was just as prepared, if not more so, for the rigors of medical school.
