LIFE-SAVING IMPACT

For 25 years, Auburn’s College of Veterinary Medicine has had a canine detection program, building on science and research to grow it into today’s internationally respected leader in the research and training of working dogs.

This summer Vapor Wake detection technology, created by researchers and canine training experts at Auburn, received a U.S. patent. This method of detector dog use is uniquely suited for screening large numbers of persons at events, high pedestrian traffic areas, and mass transit hubs without impeding their movement.

Dogs with Vapor Wake detection ability are working in a number of high-traffic venues, such as the U.S. Capitol, Amtrak rail stations and Major League Baseball stadiums.
