Dean Thomas holds an open forum for COSAM faculty and staff

“I wanted to provide an opportunity for COSAM faculty and staff to openly ask questions and share feedback,” said Dean Edward Thomas Jr. “It is important for us to offer a platform where faculty and staff can learn more about the progress our college is making and talk about their concerns.”

Auburn physicists awarded $1 million by NASA and NSF

Auburn professors Mike Fogle and Stuart Loch, from the Department of Physics, were recently awarded $1.09 million in grants from NASA and the National Science Foundation.

The research involves joint theoretical and experimental projects to produce high-quality atomic data that is needed for astrophysics. The projects will lead to more accurate diagnostics of the elements present in objects such as planetary nebulae, supernova remnants and the interstellar medium.

Kyle Heine receives two-year postdoctoral fellowship from the National Science Foundation

After completing his degree at Auburn University, Kyle Heine has an opportunity to spend more time on the Plains with a prestigious two-year postdoctoral fellowship.

Heine, who was selected for the Graduate Award in the 2021 Dean’s Research Awards in the College of Sciences and Mathematics, will continue his studies focusing on ocean sciences.  This award, "Effects of increasing temperature and ultraviolet radiation on copepod mitochondria along a latitudinal gradient," from the National Science Foundation begins on Dec. 1.
