Oliver is originally from Waverly, Alabama, about 15 minutes north of Auburn. He completed his undergraduate studies at Auburn in 2016, graduating with degrees in English and Music. He went on to complete a Master's degree at Indiana University, as well. Prior to starting his second Master's at Auburn, most of his academic background was in the arts and humanities. In addition, most of his professional background was in public service work and social research. His passion for rural Alabama communities has led him to pursue a Master's in Rural Sociology under the advisement of Dr. Michelle Worosz. He hopes, in his career, to work at the intersection of rural community development, food systems, and environmental sustainability. He is currently conducting research on the project, "Future of Farming: Increasing Adoption of Conservation Practices among Alabama Row Crop Farmers." Outside of academia, Oliver enjoys playing tennis, writing music, and spending time in the great Alabama outdoors!
