Off campus, he often volunteered at the Exceptional Foundation of East Alabama, a day program for individuals with special needs, where he led recreational activities. His community service experiences also included volunteer work with a hospital and food pantry in his hometown. His community service endeavors earned him the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award, a prestigious community service award given to only two graduating seniors each year at Auburn University. He also worked for two years as a research assistant on a research project investigating racial disparities in health amongst college students.

William is thankful for the many peers and faculty that he has grown close with at Auburn who have supported him and provided him opportunities to succeed. He is especially grateful to his parents and older brother who have always been his greatest supporters.

After graduation, William will attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine. He is excited to represent Auburn as he begins his career in medicine.
