Collaborative Projects

Here you can check out some of the projects the Arboretum has undertook.

Spring 2017- Biosystems Engineering students are helping redesign the spillway at the pond and are handling the large runoff issue we have in our front lawn.

The Davis Arboretum secured close to a $50k 5 star grant that helped restore Town Creek headwaters at the Garden of Memory and aided in slowing and filtering the storm water that enters the Arboretum.

The Irrigation Design class from the Biosystems Engineering department designed and installed an automatic irrigation system in our Urban Meadow.

Fall 2016- The Environmental Interpretation class designed interpretive signage for us to help educate visitors on the wildlife in our pond and on the uses of decaying trees as habitats for life within the Aroretum.

Building Science students will continue to use the Arboretum as a source of education on the benefits and installation of pervious concrete.

2017- Building Science, Industrial Design and Architecture Design classes are working on a collaborative "Portal Project" in order to create interesting gateways to the different areas of our gardens.

Tow raingardens were installed in 2006 by Biosystems Engineering. The purpose of the project is to determine what pollutants and metals are filtered out of the water as it percolates through the raingarden.

Building Science classes have been learning how to use a pervious concrete which is more environmentally friendly than traditional concrete.
