Mrs. Tracy Roberts
First Lady, Auburn University

Auburn’s First Lady Tracy Roberts is the dynamic wife of President Christopher B. Roberts. Tracy and Chris first met on the Plains in the late-1990s when Tracy was in Auburn one weekend to help plan a friend’s wedding. Ever since they first met more than 25 years ago, Chris has continued to carry the same piece of paper with Tracy’s phone number on it in his wallet. President and Mrs. Roberts will celebrate their 24th wedding anniversary in October.

Mrs. Roberts grew up in Griffith, Indiana, a small town close to Gary, Indiana. She moved to Huntsville when she was a teen and she is a graduate of Huntsville High School. Mrs. Roberts joined the U.S. Air Force when she was 21 and honorably served our country for four years. She completed basic training at Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio, Texas, and then completed dental training at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. Mrs. Roberts always wanted to travel, so she put in for an overseas assignment. She was thrilled when she was stationed in Germany at Spangdahlem Air Base, which is close to the French and German border. She worked as a dental hygienist/technician and also worked with the base’s dental surgeon and with the base’s orthodontist.

After four years of military service, Mrs. Roberts moved to Decatur, Alabama, where she continued to work as an orthodontic assistant. When she married President Roberts in 1998 and moved to Auburn, Mrs. Roberts worked with Dr. Scott Sprayberry as he was first opening his orthodontic practice.

Mrs. Roberts is dedicated to being of service to Auburn University. She plans to be involved with the campus Veteran’s Resource Center. Mrs. Roberts was the mother of a toddler when she joined the Air Force, and as such, she knows the struggles of trying to make ends meet and balancing a career and family. It is important to Mrs. Roberts that our veterans and young parents have access to a variety of the resources they may need to be successful, such as housing assistance, childcare assistance or mental health resources. President and Mrs. Roberts have funded a scholarship for veterans and transfer students who are majoring in engineering.

In addition to being the place where she met her husband, Auburn is where the Roberts’ youngest child was born. Both of their children are also graduates of Auburn High School and attended Auburn University. Mrs. Roberts previously served on the Auburn High School Band Parents Association Board as well as the board of the Woman’s Club of Auburn, and she is currently involved in the Auburn Campus Club. Mrs. Roberts enjoys being outdoors, taking golf and tennis lessons and biking. She also enjoys sewing, embroidering and attending Auburn Athletics events to enthusiastically cheer on the Tigers.

Mrs. Roberts loves living in Auburn, the closeness of the community and seeing people who have never been to Auburn fall in love with it once they visit.
