AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn University will celebrate more than 1,300 graduating students during Summer Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Aug. 8, in Neville Arena, where 1,341 degrees are expected to be awarded across undergraduate, graduate and professional programs.
In all, Auburn will award 746 bachelor’s degrees, 429 master’s and specialist degrees and three professional degrees during the university’s two ceremonies. Undergraduate students will be recognized during the 10 a.m. ceremony, where degrees will be awarded across every college, while master’s, doctoral and professional degree candidates will participate in the 3 p.m. ceremony.
The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering will award the largest number of degrees with 246, followed by the College of Liberal Arts (222), the Harbert College of Business (197) and the College of Education (181).
This year’s summer graduating class represents 39 states, including the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, along with 47 countries reflecting Auburn's international students. The summer class also includes 126 first-generation college graduates, and 72 graduates who are earning more than one academic credential, including 27 students receiving multiple degrees.
Both ceremonies will feature commencement remarks by Dr. Gordon Sumner, a decorated U.S. Army combat veteran and retired colonel whose 28-year military career earned numerous honors. A 2006 Auburn MBA graduate, Sumner has held senior leadership roles in government, nonprofit organizations and businesses supporting service members, veterans and their families. He currently serves as president and CEO of Gordon Sumner Consulting and most recently led Veterans Moving Forward, a nonprofit that provides service and emotional support dogs to veterans.
Commencement Day Information
Tickets are required for all graduates and guests to enter Neville Arena and may be printed or downloaded. Guests without tickets can watch the ceremonies via livestream in the Village Dining Hall for easy meetup access after the ceremonies.
Guests must enter through the main entrance of Neville Arena, while graduates will enter through the traditional student entrance beside the main entrance. The Scholarship Entrance and Neville Arena Parking Lot are reserved for those guests with accessibility needs.
All guests planning to attend must adhere to all safety protocols, including a clear bag policy (strictly enforced). A parking map and a comprehensive list of prohibited items, including non-clear bags, posters, fat heads, balloons and camera lenses longer than four inches, can be found on the Commencement Office website. Guests may return prohibited items to their vehicles or check them at the main doors for a small fee.
Arena doors open 90 minutes before each ceremony, and graduates should plan to arrive at least an hour before their ceremony. All graduates will have an optional photo opportunity with Aubie prior to each ceremony.
