Dwipayan Bhattacharya began his research career in molecular biology and genetics. He has learned through all of his experiences that his research passion actually lies in the area of cognitive diseases and neruopharmacology. His interest in this area is driven by his desire to identify molecular targets of neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer's disease. Identification of disease-specific cellular markers will help us delineate the basis of disease predisposition and help in determining therapeutic approaches. He is also interest in modulation of synaptic plasticity and memory impairment related to developmental alcohol and nicotine exposure. His research involve elucidation of mechanisms involved in prenatal exposure using electrophysiology and molecular biology approaches.
