Tom's experience in Scotchlite Front/Reverse Front Screen Projection Effects Technique is well known. The resulting composite image provides high production values since it's photographed in-camera. The final on screen effect is rendered with extreme sharpness with quality unmatched..except of course, through those effect compositing techniques now possible through the use of computer technology.

<--This 35mm film clip represents just a few frames from a segment of a Background plate from a front screen projection technique called "Scotchlite Front Screen Projection." After principle photography, this scene is processed& then printed so that it can be directly projected in the studio or on the stage with an actor or stage prop superimposed in real time in front of the projected image. (composite created in-camera)

<--This 35mm film clip, is from a segment of an in-camera 35mm Front Screen Projection Composite Effect. It was created by re-photographing a Background plate in 35mm while it was projected behind a stage prop or an actor. Shutters in both camera and projector are synchronized. This special effect in-camera technique has been around since the 1940's and was made possible through the availablity and use of a highly reflective material called Scotchlite,(highway road sign reflective material). This effect can now be created completely through the use of computer technology. Examine the storyboard drawing below to find out how the effect had to be executed on stage or on a location set. It should be obvious as to how time-consuming this approach is...However, even today it remains an incredible filmmaker tool.

DOCUMENTARY:
"The Dixon Legacy"
(Tom C. Lenard: Producer, Director/DP/Editor)

RealMedia200kbps,112kbps,56kbps

This thirty-minute documentary focuses on a family that was known for their tireless work ethic and tenacity. Combined with a keen vision and incredible business skills, tremendous success was inevitable. The businesses they created provided employment for thousands of people and set new standards in the forest industry. To give back, they wanted to share their success and resources with those who had helped them in their journey, with others less fortunate than themselves, and future generations. It is this generosity and willingness to share of themselves and their resources that is their greatest legacy.
