FAQs

How much is the application fee?

The application fee is $50 for the undergraduate application, and $60 for the international undergraduate application.

How does Auburn get my transcripts and test scores?

You must submit your ACT and/or SAT scores (including the writing portion) to the university. Auburn does not request this information from the testing agencies on your behalf. The easiest way to send your scores is to indicate that Auburn should receive them when you register to take the test. The College Board (SAT) code for AU is 1005. The ACT code for AU is 0011. High School and College transcripts should be requested from the appropriate institutions. Again, Auburn will not request this information on your behalf.

** Effective for students planning to enroll Summer or Fall 2012, official test scores must be sent to Auburn directly from the testing agency. We will no longer accept test scores posted on high school transcripts.

Where do I send my transcripts, test scores and other documents?

All application materials should be sent to:

Admission Processing
108 Mary Martin Hall
Auburn, AL 36849

Who should use this Online Application?

First-Time Freshmen
First-time freshmen applicants are students who are currently enrolled in high school or those who have never attended a college after high school graduation. Students who have earned credit through joint or dual enrollment programs while in high school are considered first-time freshmen, and students taking college courses the summer following high school graduation are considered first-time freshmen as well.

New Transfer Applicants
A transfer applicant is one who attempted ANY courses at a college after graduation from high school, except as indicated above. This includes all work for which "W" or withdrawal grades may have been granted.

How do I appeal for an application fee waiver?

Transfers from Auburn University - Montgomery
Students transferring directly from AUM are not required to pay the application fee. These students should complete the online application up to the point of payment (do not submit a payment), then contact Admission Processing at (334) 844-6429 to verify AUM enrollment in order to submit the application.

Students Requesting an Application Fee Waiver
Students requesting a fee waiver must provide documentation that the fee will represent a financial hardship on the student or their family. This documentation must be provided by an official, such as a high school or college counselor or social worker. Acceptable documentation also includes ACT/SAT fee waiver forms and free or reduced lunch program certificates. Other documentation will be considered on a case by case basis.

What are the freshmen application deadlines?

Students may begin applying for Summer/Fall admission August 1 at www.auburn.edu/apply.  Applicants with excellent academic credentials can be admitted by Early Action beginning in October.  Early Action decisions are made by October 15 for students who have completed an application by October 1.  Early Action decisions are strictly academic, based on a combination of high school GPA and the ACT or SAT score of the applicant; other factors are not considered.  Students who meet the Early Action criteria will be accepted on a weekly basis from October 15 to February 15.

Admission decisions made based on criteria other than Early Action criteria are determined in three rounds beginning November 15.  Those decisions will include acceptance and non-acceptance. These decisions are based primarily on academic achievement but also evaluate other factors submitted in the application process.  First round decisions will be made November 15 for students who complete an application by November 1.  Not all students in the applicant pool will receive a decision in the first round. Applicants for whom a decision is not made will be notified of a continuing review of their application.  Second round decisions will be made December 15 for students who complete an application by December 1 and once again, not all students in the applicant pool will receive a decision.  Third round and final decisions will be made by February 15 for all applicants with a decision pending and those who complete an application by February 1. The priority application for admission deadline is February 1.

The Spring semester application deadline is October 1, deposit deadline is November 1, and the Spring priority registration deadline is September 22.

I applied as a freshman with dual enrollment credit. Should I send my college transcripts also?

Yes. Dual Enrollment simply means you have taken college courses while you are still in high school. Under normal circumstances, the dual enrollment college credit will appear on your high school transcript. However, to ensure that college credit earned is included in your record, a transcript of the dual enrollment coursework should be sent from the college where the credit was earned. This is also the case with applicants who are home-schooled. Questions regarding dual enrollment credit should be directed to the Office of Admissions and Recruitment.

I am taking Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate courses. Will I get credit?

Questions regarding academic credit for AP or IB courses are answered by the Office of the Registrar. Information and credit tables may be viewed here.
