Taiwanese Alumni Help Attract New Students

Members of the unofficial Auburn University alumni group in Taiwan gathered March 16-19 to recruit new Auburn students in Taipei, Taichung and Kaohsiung.

The Office of International programs has made student recruitment in Taiwan a priority, and the alumni group, led by Tony Chein and Clark Chung, have stepped up to assist in any way possible. Along with Auburn staff, the alumni attended the Oh! Study International Education Expos, which attracted more than 15,000 potential students.

Alumni also met with Jennifer Mason, director of international initiatives; George Crandell, associate dean of the Graduate School; Carol Lovvorn, international student advisor; and Holley Springfield, international admissions advisor.

Auburn currently has nearly 100 alumni living in Taiwan. Provost Timothy Boosinger visited the Taiwanese alumni group with the Office of International Programs in 2012, and the group participated in similar recruitment activities in 2011.
