TEACH FOR OLLI

OLLI invites you to share your expertise with our curious and engaged members. Please fill out the course proposal in the Instructors drop down menu above. Once you have submitted your proposal, it will be reviewed by the Curriculum Committee and the Program Administrator. You will be contacted via email following the deadline listed on the course proposal form with more information.

A course proposal form must be completed for a class to be considered.

• You may make appointments for individual assistance with technology by emailing Mike Akins, Technology Committee Chair, at akinsme@gmail.com


• Please understand that as much as we appreciate your willingness to teach, we do not have the funds to provide salaries or honoraria for teaching courses at OLLI.


• You cannot use your OLLI class to promote religious or political views or products or services in which you have a personal financial interest. Course proposals are screened by the Curriculum Committee for adherence to this requirement.


• Any OLLI member is entitled to register for your course. When the class limit size is reached, registrants will be placed on a waitlist.


• You may have course materials copied by the OLLI staff. Submit your documents by email to olli@auburn.edu in a timely manner.


• To teach a course, please complete the course proposal form in the Instructor menu dropdown link above.

Educational Statement of Purpose

At the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Auburn University (OLLI), we are committed to fostering a dynamic learning environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and intellectual growth. OLLI offers a wide range of content across many subject areas. As a member-led organization, courses are discussed and approved by a curriculum committee that carefully evaluates the interests of our members and the educational value offered by proposed courses.

We acknowledge that some of the information provided may include content that could be considered objectionable or controversial by some individuals. We believe that it is important for learners to engage with challenging ideas and to approach them thoughtfully, as part of the broader educational experience. Our goal is to inspire respectful dialogue, encourage informed decision-making, and support the development of well-rounded, open-minded individuals.

We encourage learners to engage with the materials critically, and we provide resources for guidance and support as they navigate complex topics. We remain dedicated to creating a learning community where different viewpoints are valued and where individuals are empowered to grow through education.
