Madison Billingsley is a native of Opelika, AL where she currently works as a nurse at East Alabama Medical Center. She attended Auburn University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 2011. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree as a Nurse Practitioner in Adult-Gerontology/Women’s Health at the University of Alabama Birmingham.

Madison was diagnosed with Stage II Invasive Ductal Carcinoma on September 17, 2012 at the age of 24, only a year and a half after her mother passed away, at the age of 43, from breast cancer. She underwent surgery and chemotherapy and recently celebrated being a survivor of one year.

As a breast cancer survivor at such a young age, she hopes to be able to educate women about the importance of breast screenings. After graduating, Madison plans to work in an adult or women’s care clinic in order to better serve her community.

Madison enjoys blogging, reading, playing tennis, kayaking, running, and a good laugh.

Madison was one of the wonderful guest speakers at the 2013 All In, All Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Event. Use the audio controls below to listen to Madison tell her story at the event.
