In summer 2021, Lee made history by becoming the first undergraduate student to hold the position as president of the Auburn chapter of NOBCChE. “Through NOBCChE, I was able to attend two virtual conferences, and it was motivating to see and hear other black chemists where I aspire to be.”

COSAM’s Meredith Powell and ‘Advising 2 Bits’ team receive NACADA’s Region 4 Excellence in Advising Award

“Our team was really excited to receive this news,” said Powell. “The reason we created the podcast was not to replace academic advising, but to enhance the advising experience for students at Auburn. We have been working on the podcast for a little over a year at this point, and we’ve also been able to present about the podcast at a global virtual conference and at NACADA’s annual conference last fall. The news about the award is just very cool to hear, and it’s exciting to be recognized.”

Dual major in physics and mechanical engineering explores undergrad research and earns a nomination for a Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship

Noah Kim is one of four current students nominated by Auburn University for the prestigious Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program. This highly competitive program prepares the next generation of researchers in natural sciences, engineering and math to make significant contributions in honor of the five-term Arizona Senator.

 

“It is an absolute honor to be a nominee for this scholarship and I am proud that my research has helped contribute to my application for this distinguished program,” Kim said.
