First Post-Bacc student at Auburn gains research experience in computational biology

Auburn University alumna Madison Watkins has been selected to participate in the National Science Foundation’s Research Experience for Post-Baccalaureate Students, giving her the opportunity to take her studies to the next level.

 

“I am excited for Madison Watkins to have this rare opportunity as a Post-Bacc since so many students missed out on a traditional research experience during the pandemic,” said Laurie Stevison. “This opportunity will help prepare her for graduate school working on computational analysis of DNA sequences.”

COSAM Leaders attend 2022 CIVSA Student Development Institute in Washington, D.C.

From Jan. 6-8, 2022, three students from the COSAM Leaders student organization, accompanied by two COSAM faculty and staff, attended the 2022 Collegiate Information & Visitor Services Association (CIVSA) Student Development Institute in Washington, D.C. In conference sessions, COSAM Leaders learned valuable ways that the student organization can increase its diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, as well as ways to increase its social media presence.

Presidential finalist Chris Roberts visiting campus communities, schedule announced

As mentioned last Friday in the Presidential Search Update from Trustee Wayne Smith, the search for Auburn University’s 21st President is nearing completion. Dean Chris Roberts of the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering at Auburn University is the single candidate under consideration at this time. Understanding the importance of transparency and shared governance, the Auburn University Board of Trustees has invited Dean Roberts to make himself available to the Auburn University and AUM campus communities this Thursday and Friday, Jan. 20 and 21, 2022. Off-campus employees and stakeholders who cannot attend on either campus in person are invited to attend an open forum via ZOOM on Friday at 3 p.m. CT.
