Ashraf Uddin selected for endowed professorship

“Dr. Uddin has made outstanding contribution to the field of sedimentary geology and basin analysis. This is a particularly important area of research because of the tremendous aspects related to regional tectonics and petroleum reservoir potentials. Ashraf initiated Geosciences’ Imperial Barrel Award (IBA) Program to offer life-time experiences for students participating in team work together with industrial mentors.  Auburn Geosciences IBA teams were awarded the third place in the regional competition three years in a row (2018, 2019, and 2020).  In addition to these outstanding contributions in research and mentoring, there are a number of indicators that Dr. Ashraf has successfully established his reputation as a national and international scholar, he was elected to the Fellowship of the Geological Society of America in 2020.  He has served as the President of the Alabama Geological Society and Member‐at‐Large on the Research Grants Committee of the Geological Society of America," explained Ming-kuo Lee, Chair of the Department of Geosciences.
